From its beginning, Wexford Publishing has presented the work of authors who write in, and about the Coastal Bend of Texas. The works of Louise S. O’Connor document the stories of a culture and people that existed at a time when the Texas ranching culture began its descent into modernization. Their stories have been preserved as they told them with hundreds of photographs, many of which they took themselves, and the compilation of several hundred hours of interviews. The books of the Coastal Bend Series capture the history, the lifestyles and even the dreams of this unique group of people. They were individuals who had to endure the demise of the only life they knew. They did this as they did everything – with unyielding courage, wisdom and strength. In 2025, Louise O'Connor was inducted into the esteemed Hall of Great Westerners at the 64th annual Western Heritage Awards presented by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
